Announcements

1. Boxes in the living room are Patricia’s - they will be put in her room when the carpet project is finished. Luigi says this will probably take a few days

2. There is  a new couch from Patricia’s mom - where shall we put it? Let’s get rid of the old long one.

Meeting Topics

1. Attendence: Some people consistently miss meetings (like tomas, tho it is pointed out that he has to work and he mentioned this up front). There is also a core group that is always here. Meetings are important, respectful. Scribing is also important for those who can’t be there (maybe the weblog will help) - people should read the notes, and respond to show they have if they didn’t attend the meeting. People should also let the house know (e-mail) if they can’t make a meeting.

2. Upstairs hallway clutter. Mee please respond re stuff in the hall; it’s been there a while. Also, the cushion thing might get picked up by Andreas. And there will be some temporary mess due to work in Luigi/Patricia’s room.

2a. (related sidebar) Who’s is the chest of drawers in the downstairs hall? Carrie’s. Chris thinks its nice, but people might be tempted to leave things on it.

3. Thank you Chris for the bike rack! Who’s bikes are all those? (Taylor’s, Steve’s, …).

Ideas: organize spare parts, build a bike work table

4. Gary’s pond. Mosquitos re back, even though Chris cleans the pool (and it’s a lot of work). What to do? Fixing screens would help. Covering pool would help.

5. TP. Luigi says there is very little downstairs, so he took some from upstairs. Chris say he has a bunch, and makes it clear he is not hoarding it but he bought it and he uses a lot.

6. Erik as guest, September. We like him, he was a good couch surfer. But there is some concern about a long term couch-surfer, especially with 14 people already in the house this fall. We’ll suggest the usual 2 weeks, but could probably be flexible. Carrie also offers her fold out couch

7. Luigi put last weeks notes on the weblog

8. Chris says “flag.” What? Flag. F-L-A-G. We have a flagpole! Chris wants to make a flag for Burning Man.

9. Checkout. Hemi was cool. No, wait, this is about checkout. Maybe checkout should be about something more real, like “how’s your life?” Maybe we could keep the silly checkout, and also have a “check in” for relating personal life stuff … maybe during dinner …

OK. Now the actual Checkout (not the topic of checkout). The command is to tell about a dream you had recently - a dream, says Luigi, “fluttering in the mystic ether.”

Jimi: hasn’t been dreaming lately but sometimes dreams about skating (but we know that)
Chris: ate a hula hoop
Vanessa: dreamt her aunt recovered from breast cancer (and she did)
Clay: was housesitting. rock stars were invited and Clay tried to throw them out but they kept coming. The house got bigger; Koreans were smoking cigars - then it was a cigar commercial and then an old man leaned out of a bus and yelled at his son for smoking.
Leilani: pulled never ending hairballs from her throat.
Luigi: dreamed he was in a hardware store, sorting through dust parts. happiness. the next day that’s exactly what he did.
Patricia: back in the same place, a city or town, of her recurring dreams. also, Chris’s flag.
Peter: apocalyptic things.
Carrie: pass

One more 60-gallon can for trash? Used to have four, then three. Third one went missing–hard time handling volume.

Proposal to claim/maintain personal fridge spaces for each; COM shelf okay for personal labeled food also

LOCKING DOORS

Event related where unknown party-goer returned day after party–uninvited. Came in and spent time, then tried to steal Jimi’s guitar. So PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Please respect others’ concern for safety.

SHOW

August 24th Friday at the Ford theater in Hollywood … 8pm show … group outing planned! Give $5 to Patricia for a ticket if you are interested.

VISITOR

Andrew will have friend Nathaniel here for one week as of Monday [note: Nathaniel has arrived as of Monday]

LEILANI MOVE

Given Isaac’s return in August, Tomas has the right to the corner room in which Leilani has been staying. Leilani therefore suggests to room up with Chris

Would then have 14 roommates

Andrew notes there is 50/50 chance of moving out in October

Suggestion made of trial period. No strong objections to proposal.

ANTS

Ants came to honey in pantry. Please close bags of food, clean honey bottles

No sweets or honey bottles means the ants will leave on their own.

BUGS

Midnite Mosquito Assault awaking Peter from slumber

Pond of Gary maintained but figured to still harbor ’skeeters.

–>Screens on windows seen as solution–replace screen material if frame is still there

–>Drain pond until screen solution is achieved

–>Clay volunteers to patch defective screens

–>Side note: Patricia’s father Bill will be by before the end of August for window/doors repairs and upgrades discussed previously

Issue revisited from last meeting for benefit of Tomas & others not present before

Discussion about allowing ourselves space for our own activities/selling our wares. Front of driveway gains preference as an idea. Sidewalk for KillRadio might still be an option for them.

CAT NAMED KODA

Will house pay for vet and food?

Clay would contribute to vet bill–not as part of house budget

Food for birds from house funds, cat food should be okay, vet a different affair

Tomas not asked about cat please include his opinion. Does not want to have cat but willing to suffer its presence as an outdoor cat.

CARPET

Patricia & Luigi Removing carpet starting saturday. There may be stuff placed in hallway during refinish

Party had great energy, great cleanup pre- and post. Therefore, why not have more good entertainment.

Nicholas, brother of Tomas, 19 yr old punk-rocker, staying as guest in Tomas’ room.

On off for 2 weeks as of August 8. Moving to LA to study at Musician’s institute.

Luigi: when snickerdoodles were all gone–he was then safe from excesses of snickerdoodles

Patti: when Tristan cusses at party-goers telling them to return to dance floor from wherever they may be

Ashira: dancing with sta-puff kid (& that foxy girl Kat)

Jimi: Taking pictures–especially that one where Ashira looks possessed.
